2012 Nissan Models to Feature QR Codes

Originally used by auto manufacturers as a way to track vehicle parts, QR codes are becoming a familiar site on billboards, TV and magazine ads. But now, Nissan has begun adding QR-code stickers to all models in their 2012 lineup. Though this practice will soon be required of all original engine manufacturers, Nissan's forward thinking has yet again put them ahead of the game.

Nissan has already started adding QR-code stickers to all 2012 vehicles, beginning with the 2012 Altima. Soon, customers will be able to use their smartphone to scan the code from a 2012 Xterra, among many other forthcoming Nissan vehicles. Not only does this make the shopping experience more interactive, Nissan aims to ease the decision making process. Car shoppers will be able to look through the lot at their leisure, with the answers to many of their questions right at their own fingertips.

Nissan QR-Code Stickers enable shopper access to:

-          General info, such as grade walk, standard and optional features and accessories
-          Video overviews
-          Product images
-          Inventory levels
-          Mailing list opportunities
-          Dealer location support

"Nissan's new QR-code program puts important decision-making information at shopper's fingertips while on dealership lots [i.e., John Howard Nissan at 1730 Mileground Morgantown, WV]...,"says Jon Brancheau, Vice President Marketing, Nissan North America. "It's a true mass market effort across all products and all Nissan dealerships nationwide - part of our pledge to bring innovation to every aspect of the vehicle design, buying and ownership experience."1
