The New York Auto Show is right around the corner, and John Howard Nissan is getting pretty excited. Mostly because we know Nissan will be there with the 2013 Nissan Altima, and also because they've been releasing teaser images of it since late February. We can't wait to see the whole thing on display!

Teaser image number one is an aerial shot of the redesigned sedan, showing the curvy appeal of the new…

Nissan Wins Sustained Excellence Award for 2012

Unless you've been living under a rock the last few months, you've probably heard a lot of talk about the all-electric Nissan LEAF that boasts no tailpipe emissions and a driving range of up to 100 miles on a single charge. What you might not know, however, is all of the work the automaker is doing behind the scenes to green-up the entire company.

But, that's okay, because the people who should…

Nissan Teams Up with FedEx to Test Electric Vans

The next generation of FedEx vans could be a little different than what you'd expect. While the Nissan NV200 is already hitting the streets here in the U.S. as the official New York City taxi, it will soon be cruising around the busy streets of London with an electric drive-train and a FedEx logo on the side.

The plan is to test the real-world practicality of the Nissan NV200 power by the running...

For Nissan, the importance of a greener society stretches beyond the LEAF. The vision for a zero-emission society has just begun, and you can expect to see the evolving technology emerge more and more in the years to come. The next step for Nissan is their new "The Planet Zero" website, an interactive game based on the idea that small changes can make a large impact.

Stretch Nissan LEAF

For most of us limos are reserved for special occasions...namely proms and weddings. For a select few, it's the chariot to the fundraising ball, red carpet and airport. We often think of them as:

A) Long
B) Inefficient - especially the stretch-SUV
C) Kind of aggressive looking

Well, Imperial Coach Builders, a custom-coach-building subsidiary of Electric Car Company, is about to shatter all of those judgments. After receiving a most unusual work order, the Springfield, Massachusetts-based company is about to stretch the Nissan LEAF.

"This will be the first conversion of this revolutionary vehicle and the first pure electric limousine,"1 boasts Gary Spaniak, President, Electric Car Company.

Already, Imperial Coach Builders knows they're going to stretch the Nissan LEAF to 225 inches (or 18.75 feet) long. That represents close to 50 inches (over four-feet) of added length, making room for nearly two times as many passengers. The question remains, however: What will Imperial Coach Builders decide to do with the seating configuration? Will they keep it traditional? Or, given the fact it's an unconventional car to begin with, go outside the box?

There are other questions the company will answer soon, as well. Such as, how the added length, and resultant weight, might impede the EV's range/per full charge, which right now is right about 100 miles.

[Dealer] is sure they'll figure it out. We're just psyched to see the Nisan LEAF EV go VIP. If you're interested in learning more about the Nissan LEAF and its revolutionizing technology - contact John Howard Nissan today, or visit us at 1730 Mileground in Morgantown, WV.

Nissan Creating 190 EV-Ready Homes

Nissan and eco-friendly housing developer City Ventures announced a new joint initiative early this month. The two companies have decided to combine their areas of expertise - green housing and green cars - to offer new home buyers the opportunity to live a hassle-free, green lifestyle.

Specifically, Nissan and City Ventures are working to lay the groundwork for the Level II EV charging dock recommended for the Nissan LEAF, in 190 eco-friendly, new homes in California. In its infancy, the initiative represents the largest residential pre-wiring venture of its kind, in the U.S. Beyond the initial 200 homes, spread throughout three…

Nissan LEAF Backwards Hill Climb

You might have heard of backwards running events hosted in Britain and Italy. Funny to imagine, we know; but have you ever heard of a backwards car race? As it happens, they exist too, giving you a leg up in the arena of useless, but interesting, facts to share at a cocktail party or dinner with friends.

The race we're speaking of is the famed backwards climb up Goodwood Hill. Nissan wanted to enter its 2011 LEAF into the race certain it would trounce all of the competition. If slightly modified, the Nissan LEAF can drive in reverse at…
